I'm only posting information on the Hardware / Software that can be used for doing your own chips. I'm sure Moates.net (the supplier I posted links to) will ship to Canada.

Moates ships to Canada, and stands behind his products. I have many of his products.

Moates sells hardware to flash older car computers (OBDI) that have PROM Chips. Moates also sells hardware to program some of the newer car computers that have "Flash" programming, not PROM Chips. Starting in about 1996 (OBDII) most cars computers have the "Flash" programming type of computers.

PROM programming software (OBDI) can be downloaded here: http://www.tunerpro.net/downloadApp.htm

    Where in Ontario?

You can tune a little at a time. It's not like you need to dedicate several hours to tuning, wen you are doing it on your own vehicle(s).

You can simply plug in, start a datalog, and drive to your destination, then save that datalog to review later, when you're having a coffee or sitting in front of the TV, etc. Make the changes that look like they should help, program an EEPROM, and do it all over again.

The only time I need to dedicate tuning time is when I am tuning a fresh install/swap, or I am doing it for someone else, otherwise I just make (mental) note of what I see and what I think needs to be changed, to do later. It helps that I have a display on my dash that plugs into the ALDL port, that displays certain parameters for me to reference.

No , I still want to learn but my problem Is I use my truck to pull my boat and trailer, It doesnt move much but I work in construction and work most days 16hrs, that dont leave me much time to learn anything properly till the end of december. but I want to drive the truck in the mean time. I had it out on the weekend and at idle it puffs a bit from getting to much fuel. seems to run ok on the hwy but don;t know if it is too lean at that speed and rpm.

We could possibly work something out. Maybe even just give you some pointers in person on a ride along in the truck.
