Installing a chip in the plastic holder

Before changing a chip be on the safe side and remove power from the ECM by disconecting the plugs on the wiring harness leading to ECM or removing the fuses or removing the positive post on batterey. Since you need to remove the ECM from it's location to change a chip the easiest way is remove the harness plugs into the ECM.

It's not very hard to remove and replace a chip. But one thing that can be easily overlooked is the orentation of the notch. The notch on the chip has to be on the same side as the notch in the plastic holder. If not your vehicle will not run and you will damage the chip. Once the chip is in the plastic holder it will only go into the ECM one way.
