    TBI throttle shaft repair recommendations

I have a TBI with a pretty sloppy shaft, pretty sure it's the source of some problems I was having.

I got a replacement from the local yard, but it was also slightly loose.
Spent hours trying to find a good one, but sliiim pickings!!
    They all were pretty worn.

So, I found a canadian outfit that sells a repair kit for $213 USD (not going to happen!!)
Also found an outfit in Atlanta that sells a kit for $50.
Is it worth trying to install bushings?

I found another place online that sells rebuilt TBI bodies for $98.
There is no longer a local carb shop close to me.
Called one ~45 minutes away and they didn't seem willing/able.

So how does one get TBI repaired?
The cheap kit is $50, and the TBI is already junk so don't care if I mess it up.
can always get another worn out one for a few bucks.

I've sent several TBI throttle bodies to TBI Parts ( http://www.tbiparts.com ) to be re-bushed. TBI Parts has several other service parts available, so you don't have to buy a complete rebuild kit from an auto parts store for just one or two gaskets.

Do you have any competent machine shops in your area ? If they are decent they should be able to help you out.

It is really not that hard to re bush a TBI unit with the correct equiptment .

I have done a few , my suggestion is to grab a couple of junk units and tear into them , actually pretty simple once you get it apart .

I'm working right now on boring and sleeving a 454 unit , turning out to be a challenge , it ain't as easy as it sounds.........

Dave is dead on about tbiparts.com , they have a bunch of stuff for the TBI at good prices.
