    Map sensor identification

    I came across a site on how to identify map sensors:

    http://www.robietherobot.com/storm/mapsensor.htm

    My question to you guys, if I find a used map sensor with the 039 number identifying it as a 1 bar unit. Can I use it on any car? Or are there still other differences from partnumber to partnumber?

    Yup, there's a part that is used on a lot of GM cars.

    The other 2 bar and 3 bar are much rarer..

    Another good way to look at them is by the color of the WeatherPack connector. All MAP sensors with Green Weatherpack connectors are the same. GM used a Gray or Red Weatherpack connector MAP sensor on some Cadillacs that was similar (ie 1 bar), but not the same. Your green connector also is keyed different and won't fit in the red sensor's connector. GM used the White or Orange WeatherPack connector on both 2 Bar and 3 Bar sensors so you don't know which sensor you are looking at by the color of those connectors.

    0403 = Green WeatherPack (1 Bar)
    9946 = Gray MetriPack 150 (Used on multiple sensors)
    3345 = Gray/Red WeatherPack (Used on some Caddys)
    3771 = White/Orange (Used on both 2 bar and 3 bar sensors)

    Cool. Thanks for the info. The plug is green on my car, noticed that some Map have a green insert as well, some are black. Wondering if that means anything.

    Well the Green insert means it mates with the Green connector. Sometimes they just use black for the insert however.
