    SST27SF512 replacement.

Has there been a replacement EEPROM established for the SST27SF512?

I know I can still buy some of these EEPROMs, but it seems that counterfeit versions are becoming more commonplace than they used to be which seems to cause problems.

    Ideas?

I haven't had any problems yet either, but I'm getting low and would like to know what can replace these EEPROMs, since one day all that will be left will be the counterfeits.

    Good question.

But like 2732a chips that were obsolete they are now readily available. I think if there's a need china will build it...

That's where all my 2732a chips come from and never had a bad one. Even UV erased and burned one 10 times to test it. Got about 100 stock GM ones if that ever drys up...

Wow, I just looked around eBay and hardly any look like what Moates sells? One had a closeup and the edges were horrible...

I've been using the Winbond (http://www.winbond.com/hq/enu) W27E512 to replace the SST27SF512, which does not work with the Burn 2. I find it very strange that Winbond would still keep the SST logo, but add the letter MTP on their version of the SST27SF512.

I use my Batronix to flash the Winbond W27E512 chip: http://www.batronix.com/shop/program...32P/index.html

    DigiKey shows the Winbond W27C512:

i've bought 27SF512s from probably 5 different sources now, every one of them looked different, but all worked in my BURN2? i still have a tube of 9 from my last acquisition that i still need to find a use for.

I have 5 or 6 extras. By the time I go through them (if I ever do), I'll probably be swapping in an OBD II system with flash reprogramming, anyway. I'm not too worried.
