So I found ONE and only ONE 1227747 ecm. It has the AKMJ prom in it. Specs on that chip is:

    Options:
    With LB4 4.3L GAS (4.3Z) V6
    With MD8 AUTO 4 SPD THM 700 R4
    With NB2 CALIFORNIA REQUIREMENTS

I suppose the california emissions programming might be an issue?

Can the proms from a 1228062 be used in it? I have an ATBA prom and an AMRW prom.

I know that eventually, I'll have the prom reader and can go from there.

I've only done limited testing on mixing proms and ecms long ago and it was not good. SInce then I have a stack of ECMs that just plug into my 1227747 harness...

So I've backed off the timing to 6 degrees and the pinging has almost disappeared. It still occurs, but it's barely noticeable, and seems to occur the most when accelerating from a stop and during the time it seems when the transmission feels like it's slipping.

So, I've got to take care of the tranny issue now, and, I wonder if the ecm from the donor truck might have been replaced at one time and the base timing in the prom is actually 0 degrees. Still no way to know for sure until I can read the prom.

Look on the chip, AKMJ should be on it as well.

No ACHT bin, which is the bin I am currently running, available online so that I can see.

Oh no, not yet. Might do it this weekend when I don't need to drive it back and forth to work.

Just curious but are you looking into burning your own chips or using a emulator at some point?

I plan on burning, but an emulator would be nice.

Ok. Thats what I use also. A burn2 from Moates. Its pretty easy to use and durable. But if you can spring for the extra cash, a emulator is a awsome product to speed up tuning. I finally got to use a buddys on my car the other weekend. Got about 10x the tuning done. But had to give it back. I still need to get one if I just get off my butt and order one.

Thanks for asking! It's been a while since I have done anything with this truck. It mostly sits in the garage unless I am taking it out to do some hunting, but I still need to tune the WOT numbers on it. Been meaning to do that, just been too lazy.
