Is The PROM For The 1227747 ECU A One Or Two Piece?

When I buy a PROM for my 1227747 is it one or two chips? The reason I ask is because my ECU has two empty sockets. the problem is that I ordered a whole ECM from Autozon, I thought. the web page wording sounds like I was getting a complete ECM with PROM so I sent in the whole unit as core only to get one without a PROM now I am stuck.

I have a 1990 GMC sierra that originally had a V6 but was swapped out with a 5.7L TBI. It seems that the engine, tranny, and wiring harness was all swapped out together.

I have all the info that was on the sticker on the old unit:
    SERV. NO. 1227747 ARJU
    86ARJU K302190396
    16136301 ARJU

That is the way a 1227747 ECM is sent. You keep and swap in your 2 chips.

The PROM is one piece, plus the CALPAK.

Your best bet is to go to a wreckers and find a matching combination of PROM and CALPAK, to get you up and running again.

The PROM can be dealt with by programming a new EEPROM and using an adapter to make it work. The CALPAK on the other hand is not so easy to deal with.
The man who says something is impossible, is usually interrupted by the man doing it.
