ALDL Question

When building my Scout, I went with the serial data adapter to log data. After working with Tuner Pro and seeing how it works I would like to know if there is an easier way to get the data. Are there any adapters out there that would go ALDL to USB?? Or am I dreaming?? I see where guys have bought scanners that can log data and then go into the personal computer it would be sweet if a guy could eliminate the scan tool.
