I did, I thought that is what he wanted, I don't offer unless someone states that is what they want. It would be very affordable compared to mail order chips. Brand new 2732a chip to plug in, no adapter, no hassle, no wiring, just what you need.

On the other hand, nothing here has changed, if you want to learn? We help and learn back.

I've got a question regarding this that was posted.

    BCC year is 1990

    BCC= ANZN9786 Scan id= 9481 Part number= 16129785
    Release date= 11/16/88 Engine size= 7.4 Trans Type= Auto trans
    ECM/PCM: ECM #01228747
    Used in trucks: GMC
    Possibly used in:
    C3500,2WD,1 TON C3500,2WD,1 TON K3500,4WD,1 TON
    K3500,4WD,1 TON P30 COMM. 1 TON P35 COMM. 1 TON
    R2500,2WD,3/4 TON R2500,2WD,3/4 TON

    Options:
    With L19 7.4L GAS 8 CYL TBI V8
With M40 AUTO 3 SPD TORQUE CONV VAR 1
With NM8 EMISSION SYSTEM, LEADED FUEL

I've got a chip that has a prom ID of 9481.
The chip is an ADS superchip out of a 90 model C1500 sport, wasn't a big block truck.
Looking in my GM prom cross reference index I can't find that prom code anywhere from 89-91.
Above it lists a scan ID of 9481 so I switched gears and decided to find the scan ID in the book.
    I found it under a 1990 model 5.7L vin K with prom ID of 0638 and ASDX,part number 16140637.
So either the above info from BCC is wrong or my book is wrong(snapon, copyright 1996)
I can never get BCC to work for me,so just thought I would ask.
I figured it would make good practice digging thru info and figuring out an unknown, but it's just confusing me.
Why don't the part numbers line up? Is the (PROM ID) listed in tunerpro actually the scan ID? I recently did a chip in a buddies series1 L67 and the prom ID lined up with my book.
Can someone explain furthur what i'm running into?

BCC is broken right now. I'm having trouble finding time to fix it but I'm really trying to get it done.

GM sometimes uses the same scan ID on different cals. GM has also released cals with very similar BCC's. You might find something like ASDX1234 and ASDX1236. Documentation won't always catch both versions of thew cals so when you look it up, your bona-fide OEM cal doesn't seem to exist. And from time to time there are cals that don't get documented in the normal channels. I have a cal for an 86 Vette with special 16" (or maybe 17"?) wheels. The wheels were ugly and few people ordered the option, but it was real and it had a dedicated calibration.

Try uploading your ADS cal to bithoist and see if that program identifies it. I'll try to remember to fire up my version of BCCFind tonight and pull out my Snap-On book to compare notes.

According to GM's database, the scan ID 9481 is associated with five calibrations:

    FPU 9817
    ANB 8969
    ACKU9040
    ASDX0638
    ANZN9786

ANZN doesn't show up in Snap-On's book because of this: With NM8 EMISSION SYSTEM, LEADED FUEL. I missed this earlier. Snappy's PROM book says on P. 1 "This index lists ECM PROM's for the 1980-95 vehicles covered by the Snap-On Fast- Track Troubleshooter cartridge, MT2500-2995. It does not contain the ID codes and part numbers for all PROM's used in all GM vehicles." Leaded fuel calibrations were generally considered export only. I wonder if Snappy decided the cost for export info wasn't worth it.

Did you try running the chip through bithoist? Many of the early OTC chips had few changes from stock. I'm wondering how close that one is.

What exactly is Scan ID for?

Those Leaded Fuel Calibrations are Open Loop. I had one for 1227747 and could not make it go Closed Loop... they went to countries at the time who still used leaded fuel so O2 sensors would not last.

Scan ID was a way for a tech to ID a cal. You can read it in the data stream. You could use scan ID, the year, and the engine / ecm info to check for updates.

One of the first cals I read with my new burner years ago was an open loop cal. '86 was the first year for TBI in trucks. One of our regular customers at the Chevy dealership had one that had been bought new. It never switched into closed loop but the owner said he consistently got better mileage than other guys with 86-88 trucks so we never worried about it. In 94 or 95 his son rolled the truck. The parts manager bought it to retrofit his '83 to EFI. That's when I read the cal and realized it was open loop export cal. I guess GM figured Montana was a good place to send export cals since we didn't follow any EPA standards at the time.
