    GM doesn't show my PROM exists...'90 454ss

    Hello, just joined this site in my desperate search for a PROM chip for my 1990 chevy 454ss.
    It had an aftermarket hypertech chip that is no good, and I can't seem to cross reference it anywhere.

    I went to the local GM, and my truck apparently doesn't exist. This truck is a 7.4l with a 3-speed, half ton short box. The only truck with this set up on their list is a ONE ton.

    The truck has at the moment, a 5.7l so I need a chip for this as well. But they dont show any numbers for trucks with 5.7l's and a three speed.

    I need a stock PROM chip for a 454ss (that the dealership can't even find) and a PROM chip for the same setup but a 5.7l in place of the 454 (temporary)

    Here are the numbers off the front of my ECM (layed out something like this):

    Thank you Six_Shooter, that is actually the page that came up when I did a google search. But I don't even know what to do with this imformation. I see that one file there that sais ATDX 90 C-1500 7.4TBI 3 speed auto.BIN‎, I'm assuming if I had the tools, this would be the file needed to tune the chip?

    I have ATDX, do you have a chip burner?

    Looking for one to match your ECM and 5.7L... I have one but think it's Open Loop Leaded fuel export bin... still looking...

    Actually ATDX was superceeded to AUMU. I have that.

    For the same ECM with 5.7L is AKWA and I have that. Do you need chips burned? Or do you just want the files?

    I need a chip. I don't have a burner or anything. I would get one but it's not worth it for me, im just trying to get my truck to run. I can get one at my local parts store (they send a chip away and get it tuned) but I have to give them the number on my chip...which I don't have.

    NOW, can someone fill me on this: My transmission is NOT electronic, so does it matter if I got a chip from a same year/model that had a 4 speed?

    It can matter. If your truck has a Turbo 400 trans and the kickdown operation is controlled by the ecm (typical situation) then a manual transmission calibration will screw things up royally. The shift light wire in a manual trans truck is used for kickdown control in a 400 so imagine what can happen there. Similar stuff would happen with a 700R4 with locking converter... the converter would lock whenever the chip thought it was time to shift gears.

    Just picked up an ecm from a buddy to try. 1227747 86asdu k 301731237. Prom is asdu. Will it work for the 350?

    I know its for a 350 and a 700r4. My truck has a th400 and. A 3.73 rear end. Will it work with my transmission?

    It will run and drive. But who knows what will happen when TCC kicks in as this is the same signal that TH400 uses for down shift soliniod? Look at how pin A7 is used between 700R4 TCC and TH400 downshift solinoid.

    700R4 chips are differant the TH400 chips. Wiring is also differant between the 2.

    If you can do wiring then you can install a THM400 kickdown switch on the throttle pedal and separate the ecm.

    Didn't Eaglemark offer to burn a chip for you?
