Well, I made a datalog this morning. Looks like at crusing speed the blm is pretty much perfect? still rich at idle. In gear idle is really awesome, smooth 625 rpm. out of gear it never really gets below 800-900rpm.
Thanks

hahahaha here I am wondering why nobody is giving me any opinions/input - I just realised I didnt attatch the datalog. I feel stooopid.
Here it is:

You have something wrong with IAC, or throttle blades, or? Remember we fixed IAC count? Well look at it at end of log... when you did a very good idle! IAC way to high again? Worse then before?
I'm not saying this is the problem... but... I've found 2, myself, in person, bad IAC in the last year. Both tested perfect! I just through another one in first one. When I found the second one with same issue I tore it apart and found the pintle stripped in middle, it is a stepper motor on a threaded shaft and just wore out...

So its been quite a while since Ive posted... Im in construction so its a busy time of year for me.
I had some time this weekend to work on the '87 and I took it out and did a datalog... I dont know what happend but it seems everything is messed up for some reason. It wont really go into closed loop and blm is pegged at 172!? No idea whats going on, hopefully you gurus can steer me in the right direction.
The datalog and my current .bin are attatched. Thanks in advance for sharing your wisdom!
Matt

Also a Error 44 O2 sensor Lean! Looks like running out of fuel? Fuel filter or pressure issue?

Looked at it last night... Seems to be getting enough fuel, it blows black smoke if you get on it and will burn your eyes its so rich... Makes me think bad o2 sensor... Or? What do you think?
thanks

What does your BLM history show?
Have you made any adjustments to your VE table yet?
Just because it smells rich doesn't mean the O2 sensor is bad, you may just be to rich in the tune.
Trust me I am an extreme rookie, but there are so many variables that can make it rich.
I don't know all the details about what you are doing but I know you have to get your fuel pressure set correct, injector base pulse width set, injector bias set then do some data logging, build up some blm history then start tuning your VE tables.
Have you read this link yet? http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...must-read!-%29
Seems to be enough fuel does not indicate a fuel pressure in PSI...
Your log shows it running OK... not perfect but OK Closed Loop, then under load BLM continue to climb until they hit 172 and POOF! Goes Open Loop! You have a Errro 44 Os sensor lean so it's real. Now why?
O2 sensors normally work or fail, they can get old and be off a little but yours seems to be working fine.
Now black smoke does not indicate lean, it indicates rich! So you could have a vacuum leak causing rich, if vacuum leaqk is on O2 sensor side it will add fuel!
Also a exhaust leak before or around O2 sensor can make it lean = add fuel!
With that error code set you can't count on it ever running properly.
HTH!

Well, looked at the truck a little closer today... Can't find any vacuum leaks or exhaust leaks... Everything looks right. Hooked tuner pro up to it and it seems to run fine in open loop and also closed loop when it is cool, as the engine warms up it begins to read lean, the o2 sensor voltage steadily drop, it got down to 100mv as I was waching it. You can see visible black smoke from the exhaust at this point. Then it goes back to open loop and the black smoke goes away, and it *seems* to run normally.
Really don't know where to go from here... Keep looking for a vacuum leak? Check ignition parts? I know plugs and wires are good; they are recent. Change cap and rotor maybe? Kinda stumped.
Thanks

The O2 sensor voltage won't help closed loop as it swings.
But black smoke is a sure sign of very rich! When it get's that rich the INT and BLM should be maxing out taking aways fuel... also when that rich it will cool off O2 sensor and go Open Loop, I've even seen this on heated O2 sensors.
Check for vacuum leak at idle in OL with a propane torch.
Do you have an EGR valve? It could be sticking open?
Black smoke rich could also be to much fuel pressure, what is your fuel pressure?
Or something could have gone wrong with the bin file? Have you reloaded your last known good file?

The bin you posted above looks fine, if it is loaded properly in AutoProm or chip burnt properly.
PE and DFCO are still turned off for data logging, if not doing data and driving they should be back on. This is not causing your issue!

No egr... I reflashed the chip with the last known good bin... Don't know what the fuel pressure is... How do you check it on a tbi?
Wonder if I have a problem with my chip? Maybe i should try flashing my bin on a different chip just to check...
thanks for helping me out mark... I could never do this without all of your help!!!

If your CEL is working properly it is probably not the chip.
Need a gauge for fuel pressure, the factory way puts a gauge at fuel filter or some go in line at feed side of TBI.
