I have a '93 LT1 and would like to run mid/long tube headers and keep my cat for a daily driver, however I've read on the internet it seems that headers (specificly long tube) and a cat can cause problems like early cat fouling. Also possible o2 sensor fouling, because the 93 year didnt have heated o2 sensors.

Some other notes:

1. The LT1 in my truck does not have the AIR system.
2. I wouldnt mind putting EGR ports on the headers and making a line up to the EGR, however I have read that with headers the EGR doesn't really work anyway "because they flow too good" [citation or clarification needed].
3. I have the ability to change program the prom (because of this awesome forum :D, tunerpro and my willhem programmer).

Does anybody here run long tube headers and a cat? Can you describe your setup?

Any other thoughts or insight about this would be appriceated.
