    $42 hack questions

    I'm working with 1990 k1500 5.7 stock was ASDU.
    TunerPro RT V5.0 + $24-1227747-V5.1.xdf.

I notced all Scalars that note **Read Me Hack** and *Off for BLM*.
I'm figuring that the *Off for BLM* is for VE tuning. Is that correct? If so, does that mean that ALL *Off for BLM* should be change for BLM logging to work correctly?

For **Read Me Hack** can Spark Advance, BLM, TPS% and Injector PW all be enabled at the same time?

    Thanks, Mark J.

Off for BLM is for data logging. By turning these items off you get a better/more accurate data log. Some may already be off, like Air pump is already off in ADSU.

The other three for Read Me Hack can all be done at the same time, and at same time as Off for BLM. But do not use TPS% Hack unless you are looking for something specific to TPS! When TPS hack is enabled you loose Knock counter and knock sensor...

Thanks for the info! I definately don't want TPS% right now cause I'm keeping an eye on the knocks. When I open the ASDU main spark advance in a 3d chart is looks like a dirt bike course! Nothing smooth about it! I think I'm getting my BLM's close but I keep getting knocks while pulling hills.
    Thanks again, Mark J

That could be an issue! Sometimes guys will add to spark in numbers table and not realize how lumpy it gets. Besides the stock tables are sometimes horrible.

Post a bin so we can look/help.

I think I attached the file.
One is the bin I have been working with and the other is the 3D dirt bike hill.

Sorry about the size of the graph. Paint doesn't always co-operate.

That's a stock ASDU timing table, I could even see it in that little picture before opening your bin.

Take a look at this thread, it's about fuel but will give you some ideas. Use the graph and grab the spikes and valleys to fix them, then use the smooth tool set to .5 and do a row at a time.

Here's a good start to a smooth table with some increased spark for ASDU.

Load this bin as a compare bin, then compare and copy all cells from 60 to 100 MAP into ASDU, then work on smoothing. When smoothing try not to lower number, just raise...

Don't change 55 to 30 MAP, differant DFCO stuff...

Thanks for the starting point on the SA.
Are the numbers on the cells degrees? If so, I know it's not total degrees. Need to add initial degrees.
I have done as you described above. Will test out in truck today or tomorrow.
    Thanks, Mark

Since we are in a $42 thread this goes for $42 only!

The numbers in cells are degrees, but depending on the BCC it may have 0 or 9.84 warm bias, they all have 20.04 cold bias. Bias is used so cells can reflect negitive numbers. So the actual number in the cell is actual timing minus Warm Spark Bias of 9.84 degrees on most small block BCC. On a big block BCC the numbers in cells are actual and the Warm Spark Bias is 0, so it is actual.

Initial spark advance. This value should be what the physical distributor timing is set to. This value gets subtracted from the Total Spark Advance.
(but is physically added back in by the position of the distributor relative to piston tdc). This is also called 'static' timing.

    EagleMark, thanks for the info.
I have to drop back and punt. Somewhere in the changes I lost my TC lock-up. A swapped an older chip burn in this morning on my way to work and the TC lock-up worked fine. Put the newer chip with all of the changes on 1/2 way to work and no more TC lock-up.
    I know, smaller steps...;-)
    Thanks, MarkJ

Changing just the spark table should have no effect on TCC lock up. If you used that entire bin you would loose lock-up because it's a TH400 bin, you'd also loose Closed Loop because it's an export bin/leaded fuel/no CAT.

Load this bin as a compare bin, then compare and copy all cells from 60 to 100 MAP into ASDU, then work on smoothing. When smoothing try not to lower number, just raise...

I changed more than the spark table.
I was still working with the scalars turning off the **Off for BLM** and **Read me Hack ** when I added the 60 to 100 section.

I'm at a loss how any of those could cause no TCC lockup? Maybe a mis click? Or if you find it is one of those let us know and I will add notes to XDF...

I'll take smaller steps this time. I will let you know what I find. This could take the rest of the week for me due to my schedule.
