Does a 16144288 have the same wiring as a 7747?

I picked up a '93 4.3 with the complete wiring harness and 16144288 ECU. I've read a few vague reference stating the wiring pinouts are the same for a 7747 as a 16144288.

    Is this true?

Can I mod a 16144288 ECU? the same as a 7747? I've gotten pretty good at soldering in the ZIF sockets.

Plugs for harness are the same.

16144288 ECM has a soldered in limp home chip, 1227747 has removable limp home chip.

Look at the XDF and ADX for 16144288 $A0 and then look at the ones for 1227747 $42 and tell me which one you would use?

I've read that all C3 ECM are the same and can use a $42 bin in them if LHM chip is correct. But I have never tried it?

I've never heard of that before, and every reference to that idea I have seen, says that you can NOT switch codes between the ECMs.

I can however confirm that the pinouts are indeed the same between '288 and '7747.

So is there a reason why I should run the 288 versus the 7747? I have both laying around...

    I can't see a reason to run a 288 at all if you have a 7747.

Well I have a GM 4.3 sitting here on the stand and connected all the wiring. Sure enough, a 7747 and 288 really do interchange.

what are you going to run the 4.3 in? i have a 91 c1500 it came with a 288 ecm, i put a 747 in it. i think the 747 will out preform the 288 except the 288 i think will do better mpg. sure wish work in progress would fine time to fix the $ao ads file so it works on tuner pro 5.0. 747 in my truck 60 mph gets 21 mpg with the slight wind behind me ,19 mpg going into the same wind. the 288 does 18.3 -18.5 and it has not been tuned as much (need a good $ao ads file to work on tuner pro 5.0]. if you are just starting out i would use the 747 more you can tweek. my expiriance is the 288 is better at adding fuel than taking it away from the main ve table for fuel milage.

The $AO data file is still an old ads file. Go to Acqusistion, Import definition and it will convert to adx and prompt you to save the file. But it does not have near the work the $42 files have done. Seriously I have 100's of hours into $42 XDF and ADX files.

eagle mark when i do that , then go to accusition-show dash it just shows 6 empty boxes no gauges for the dash, i may have pc or pc operater problems. i think i can get 23mpg out of the 288 maybe.

Dashboards are something you build and may not be in there like all the work I put into $42.

There's no reason you can get better milage from that ECM.

been playing, i put the 288 ecm that i have been tuning on with tuner cats for2-3 years,it runs like a strong 6 cylinder.this morning switched back to the 747 been tunning for about 2 months with tuner pro an eagle mark it runs like its a 7 cylinder only its smooth ,the 747 is getting some what better milage in a short distance, blake i would use the 747 get one of moates g2 adapters an a 27sf512 chip, i unpluged the ecm took the chip out reinstalled replug ecm 384 times before i got the moates set up, dont forget a zip socket i broke a few wires that i hade to fix with all that unpluging. now i have the ecm laying in where the dash box fits for easy acess, flip the zip the chip comes out. eagle mark thanks agian for the time you spend ,

Your welcome! It's all been fun for me.

What bin/BCC did you start with for your 7747 six cylinder? You can always start or add to your threads with a datalog or bin and we can learn together. I have not spent much time with V6, but have done a lot of conversion I6 tuning.
