    A217 $0D TP5 v250 adx, injector flow and fuel useage

    So ever since I have swapped over to MPFI, the little fuel useage part of the adx file has stopped working correctly. I was poking around in the adx today and noticed something. There is a value for injector flow, in the discription it reads as follws:

    Value must be changed to inj flow of engine.
    TBI V8: inj flow/4
    TBI V6: inj flow/3
    TBI I4: inj flow/4
    PFI V8: add 4 inj flow/4
    PFI V6: add 3 inj flow/3
    PFI I4: add 2 inj flow/2

    Also, it appears the fuel useage, uses the injector flow value to calculate the fuel useage. So I think this is why its not working. But what is confusing me is what it says for PFI V8. What exactly is it instructing me to do? What am I supposed to add to? Is it the conversion? Right now it reads 116.0/4, so do I need to change it 120.0/4 ? or what?

    I think in your case it means just input your injector flowrate (PFI). TBI requires 1 injector per bank for V6,V8, and 1injector for whole engine on 4 cylinder.

    At my current fuel pressure, my injectors flow 25 lbs/hr.
    So does that mean I change it to 100.0/4 ? Or 116.0/8, or 200.0/4, or 200.0/8, or what? Thats what confusing me. Its kinda vauge on exactly what to change.

    I haven't messed with it much but it would seem to me you can put either "100 / 4" or "25", they are the same thing.

    So is it saying that I add the flow of 4 of my injectors together for PFI?
    Where its set now, at 116, divide that by 2 and you get 58, so its set up right now for two 58 lb/hr tbi injectors?
    So its adding the flow of both injectors together and then dividing it by 4? I could see how that would work for PFI, but not TBI.
    Guess I will just have to give it a try this weekend.

    This is for your 401 right? If so that would be PFI V8, yes? So you add up 4 injectors and divide by 4 = same as one injector flow.

    What this thing is trying to do is calculate how much fuel is used and it needs injector flow per cylinder.

    TBI V8: inj flow/4 = 1 injector (driver) feeding 4 cylinders
    TBI V6: inj flow/3 = 1 injector (driver) feeding 3 cylinders
    TBI I4: inj flow/4 = 1 injector (driver) feeding 4 cylinders
    PFI V8: add 4 inj flow/4 = 4 injectors (per inj. driver) feeding 4 cylinders
    PFI V6: add 3 inj flow/3 = 3 injectors (per inj. driver) feeding 3 cylinders
    PFI I4: add 2 inj flow/2 = 2 injectors (per inj. driver) feeding 2 cylinders

    Make sense?

    If its simply figuring out the injector flow for each cylinder, and (for TBI) its diving the injector flow by 4 to get a per cylinder injector flow, why are both injectors added together? 116 = two 58 lb/hr tbi injectors. Shouldnt it be 58/4? Or am I still missing something?
    Or, now that I think of it, it says it must be changed to the injector flow of the "engine". So would that mean all injectors added together? That would account for the 116 thats entered in there now. Then would the "add 4" be for the 2nd part? 200/8 ? But if the "/" is supposed to be divide, then I guess it simply comes back out to 25, what my injectors flow. But can you enter a static number into the equation box, or will it need to be a actual equation? But this doesnt explain the 116/4, as that would not be giving a per cylinder flow, because if 116 = both injectors added together, then it sould be divided by 8 should it not?
    I'm just confusing myself even more, maybe I am over thinking it. Where is 93V8S10 when you need him...lol

    And yes, this is for my 401, mpfi, injectors flowing 25 lbs/hr at current fuel pressure.

    Not sure how 58 x 2 = 116 became part of the equation? Even the bin lists 5.7L injectors at 61, so it should be 61 x 2 = 121. 121/4... is the conversion equation.

    But 116/4 only comes out to 29, not 58. Half because in the fuel usage value it uses RPM, 2 revolutions per cycle, so half. Injector flow value has no significant output, it is a calculation for the Fuel Usage value and historygram. It's the half part that is confusing.

    100/4 or 200/8 will work for you. Not sure why 25 would not? Or 29 for TBI?

    As far as the 116, do you know entered that value? Was it for a stock injector at stock fuel pressure? Who knows. It doesn't really matter, I would just set it the same as your injector flow in this case.

    I'd guess 93V8S10 as that is what came in the files. Haven't seen him around in a long time? Hope all is well.

    There's all sort of flow numbers for TBI injectors, some are calculated at 12psi and some 13psi and some just wrong? I've stuck with 61pph since it's what came in stock bins.

    Exactly Mark, that was sort of my point, not to get hung up on the numbers already in there, and just make it what it should be.

    Yea, I was using the 116/4 as a example because thats what value came already entered into the adx file. I cant remember what the tbi flow numbers are. If 58 is not for 5.7 injectors, would it have been for 305 injectors?
    Anyways, I will give it all a try this weekend.

    To big for 5.0L. But a well known internet value for 5.7L.

    Like Greg said, don't worry about it and use what is correct for yours.

    Well, I got side tracked there for a while and have not had a chance to give this a try untill now.
    But it appears to be working. I entered the value of 100/4 and gave it a go. The fuel useage now seems to display a more realaistic number. Liked to hover between 10-13 depending on where I kept the skiney pedal.
    I like the value of 3 when I would hammer on it and 27 when I let off

    Just wanted to update the thread so it didnt get left open ended.
