I'm wheez, I take everything apart

Hey there, I'm wheez. I don't know what to say about myself except that I take everything apart. I've had this compulsion my entire life and while I've gotten a little better at putting things back together, I regularly find myself in over my head.
This is the first time I've really gotten elbow deep into a vehicle and I kinda don't want to die in it so I'm gonna try to make sure I do it correctly.
Looking forward to learning what I can from people that have a better understanding of it!

I have a 93 S10 with2.8l V6 LL2 (160 baud I think)
I need to locate the correct files in order to start seeing some data so I can diagnose and log

I have a ftdi232 but I'm not sure if I need to get a proper adapter to work with my truck and where I might find one.
I'd really appreciate any help I can get.
