Hello all Mandatory post here. Looking for someone that has some info on running 5.3 2002 specifically with a 700r4 transmission.
Ive got a 1986 3/4 ton I've put this motor in and I'm trying to use the 700r4 4WD transmission { need the VSS? what about braking? How will PCM know if trans is in a gear for fueling} anyone have any input I'm familiar with universal patcher and pcm hammer.
Be weary of your TV cable. It’s a must for the 700R. Geometry is critical.

Many options for programming the PCM. I favor using a 5.3 ~ 4L60E flash with the transmission error codes disabled.
I also favor a VSS. Maybe your 700R4 has the 40 pulses per drive shaft revolution VSS.
Possibly an aftermarket TCC vacuum switch to lock the 700R4 torque converter in 4th gear only. The TCC vacuum switch locks the torque converter at light throttle.
