    Greetings from Colorado Springs!

    Hello everyone! I am Funnyontheinside.

My current project is a 1997 Firebird Formula LT1 that I put back on the road around 3 years ago. I am not too bad at spinning a wrench, but the tuning side of things has always left me a bit confused. I am finally getting to the point that I feel that I want to modify my Firebird, but I don't want to have to rely on someone else to keep it tuned up and in shape. With that in mind, I have found that it has always been cheaper to fill my head with knowledge, before I fill my tool box, so I am planning on reading everything I can in here. I want to make sure that I fully understand fuel injection and related concepts, as well as what to look for WHEN things go wrong, that way I can get them fixed as they come up. Long term, I hope to bring some new found skills to my friend's projects, too.

Thank you all in advance for any info that has already been left, indexed, and shared! I am sure it will go a long way for me to get my goals met!

Pretty sure I have read about some of your tools! I came to this forum from LS1LT1.com, as well as a fairly frequent visitor to LS1Tech, and I am quite confidant that your advice has already proven to be helpful, so i already feel like I owe you a thank you and a beer!

I will admit that I have toyed with the idea of going back to OBD-I. I also looked at going to a 24x system, but the cost seemed to be close to what I could throw a low buck LS deal into the car for, so I didn't feel that would be the best system for me. The mission for right now is going to be reading a bunch of stickies, and start getting the basics into my skull, and maybe try to solidify a plan on what way to go. I eventually want a T-56, and of course an LS motor is a tempting option. Techcially, I know it would be easier to save money, and buy a car that is already a later model, with the engine trans combo I want, but I really would like to keep mine. It was a present from my wife for our 15th anniversary, and came to me right after I lost my first car, a 77 Firebird, in a fire.

Thanks for taking the time out to say "Welcome!"

your motivations with your car are similar to what mine were
my red camaro was an obd2 to obd1 conversion and that is the car that eehack was originally bred from, i did the conversion so it was cheap to tune and then i decided that wasn't good enough

Well, it looks like I now know what way I am going to go with my Firebird. I am going to be working on learning the JetDST system. I will admit, I am kind of nervous about it. Not a ton of information out there on it, and the information I can find is telling me to buckle up for a nightmare. Out of an abundance of caution, I haven't tried to write anything to my car yet. I ended up looking on here for a .cal file to read, and have been slowly working my way through the information, and trying to find what I am going to want to modify and what I won't need to worry about. Ton of work so far, but I am so excited.
