Question How do I create a data log file?

I'm trying to save a data log recording and I can't figure out how to do it. The help documentation isn't complete when it come to explaining how to create an .xdl file in the first place. Help says to open a log file to record to but I don't have one. I'm confused.

if you use 'record' in the acquisition menu, it is recording to a file in a folder called 'tunerpro' in your documents. you don't have to save it. but you can 'export' the log you just recorded to a CSV format if you want to use other tools with it (only tunerpro really uses the XDL format logs)

I found the Log file. Thanks for the help. I have started to log data! Pretty cool in itself. Now how to understand what I'm looking at. The main reason I am learning this is to pass a failed emissions test and to find out whats going on with the engine after changing the IAC, the O2 sensor and the distributor rotor. I didn't start using Tuner pro until after I changed these parts. I started with the IAC and have gone through the base idle procedure several times and found that the original factory setting of 600 rpm is the goal. right now the base idle is set at about 1100 rpm. If I try to set it lower the butterflys start to stick and doesn't feel right to the foot. The truck runs amazingly well but I'm seeing some readings that i don't understand.
    1. The truck is an oddball and does not have an intake air temp sender only an intake water temperature sender. In the tunerpro lists in the log an intake air temperature of -40 deg. Would this cause the engine to run rich? The truck has always gotten horrible mileage. Allways 10 mpg! Down hill, up hill it's always 10 mpg. It has always passed the last emission test in 2021 but it was borderline and caused me to have to be tested every year instead of every 2 years like most every other vehicle. It failed the Idle CO section by 11ppm. The O2 sensor readings are irratic. it swings from very low numbers to very high numbers constantly. At idle and off idle. I can see the IAC changing the mixture up and down also. The IAC position is reading between 40 and 50 at idle. I noticed the O2 sensor reading kind of like not staying at 0 with just the key on. I flashes a number once in a while. I'm wondering if the O2 sensor is bad? My second question is still to come.

well most engine have seperate coolant temp and IAT...what mask/ecm/whatever are you running
if you have IAT based tables and no IAT sensor things will be f#*(%kd up for sure.

Hello all. I'm still having trouble creating log files. It shows six log files that I had saved but when I try to play them back I get an error message saying error loading log file. Anyone have a idea what I'm doing wrong? I uploaded one of my log files if that helps.
