    TPI distributor and wiring question

picked up a TPI intake w/distributor off FB market for $100 shipped. looks great overall but I'm curious as the cap took some damage. will I need to source a new coil or just a cap itself? also, I can retain a 7747 TBI ecu/harness and just modify the two injectors to fire each side of the TPI? and the injectors look like the standard bosch plugs? can I just use a standard injector harness from a ford or something and modify it?

or do I need a TPI specific wiring harness and ecu? I assume I would have to change sensor plugs and such over to the TPI stuff? also no clue if it matters but apparently this came off 91 corvette. no clue if there's anything weird with this as opposed to say a camaro or firebird unit? anything weird to watch out for?

You can just swap the damaged cap with a new one transferring coil and associated wire/connectors. From TBI to TPI, that would be the same arrangement as far as injectors go. Probably gonna need to lengthen some wires for the sensors to the TPIs throttle body. What are you using for an ECM 1227730? Between Y and F, the fuel rails exit on opposite sides...

I've got a chipped 7747 ecu I was hoping to get away with. also, I think I may be confusing myself. Y and F? return and feed? wiring colors? I'm not familiar with this lingo.

Edelbrock did offer a TBI retrofit intake that reused the 7747. I imagine it worked similar to what you're trying to accomplish but keep in mind that the pico injectors that came with the kit was designed to be batch fired with a 7747. Someone smarter than will chime in if you can batch fire the stock TPI injectors with the 7747. My guess the injector driver is gonna fail in short time. Corvette= Y-body Camaro/Firebird=F-body

    There's a few ways to skin a cat...consider a '7730 or even a truck PCM '427 w port mod...

gotcha. I'm pretty sure these are batch fire. I found a wiring diagram last night for the ecu that is supposed to be in a 91 vette which I believe is the 1227727. and the diagram only shows two injector drivers.

    I think it will work?

I put a tpi intake on my 93 k1500 and used the ecu from the truck. I spliced in the injector plugs it to the stock wiring harness. I used the tbi heads but i ported them and i have stock roller cam, lifters and roller rockers. It runs good im waiting on a chip to put in the ecu.
