Hi! Joined up to get some help with EEhack data logging.

Here's my story. Bought a 1995 Z28 6 speed it had a 847 cam ported heads Hooker headers Y pipe 3" exhaust no cats with a tune by an unknown tuner. The reason it had no cats the tune melted them according to the guy I got the car from ( found a melted piece of the cat in the muffler). So I bought an ECM with a mail order tune for my car,it worked OK but but stumbled off idle and had other drivability issues. Long story short went thru different 3 turners telling me do this try that and so on. Then I was told you need to data log with a wide band. OK laptop, cable,Innovate wide band, download EEhack start data logging. I notice my ACQ is connecting disconnecting and reconnecting all the time. that can't be right. tested cable it's OK. Not a computer guy don't know what to do. Is it the cable, the driver,my ECM,my laptop, my Microsoft security?

Welcome to the forum. I have not used EEhack and not sure what ACQ is but with things cutting in and out first thing I look for is for is grounds. Make sure your negative battery cable is clean and tight and the other end at the engine and the body is clean and tight. Then check the diodes in the alternator, by checking for AC voltage at the large post on the alternator with engine running. Should be less than 0.20 Volts. Your next step is to check the DC voltage, with the engine running, at the PCM, it should be within 0.5 of battery voltage on the power side, and less than 0.2 V on the ground wires. Good luck and happy hunting.

that car is what eehack was designed for so either its a problem with your aldl adapter / serial interface or a wiring issue with the car. its also possible another device on the aldl bus is having a fit. make sure the ecm you bought isn't running a corvette bin or could cause havoc too. if you have your old ecm try it to rule that out.

The Tan wire from ecm blue connector PIN number 30 is serial data correct? That’s the wire that goes to the Aldl connector number 9? I’m going run a replacement wire from #30ecm pin to#9aldl pin to try to fix my problem.

best site for a 1994-1995 lt1 powered car ever: http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#1995_pcm_pinouts

and yes pin 30 on the blue pin tan wire

the other one goes to chassis but you could run a new one of those to one of the ECM's chassis ground wires

try with car off and car on (rule out alternator noise or ignition noise)

you could post a log from eehack too, there's a 'debug log' section and then press 'verbose' maybe we can spot what's wrong with the comms

every wire on this car is ancient and thin and suspect for breakage, and data wires are the most sensitive for sure
