So your saying the large steel fitting that threads into TBI leaked? or just the plug / gage ports?

ya there is 3 possible places it could leak from, where it goes into the fuel pod, where the hardline threads into or one of the ports to hook a fuel gauge up to. i have not used this fitting but they have been around for 15+ years, it is very possible you got a bad one.
it sounds like it's leaking from the npt ports, sounds like you used the wrong dope or didn't tighten them enough. my solution for a leaking npt fitting has always been just tighten it down more until it stops.

Ok, Seeing it is the NPT gag ports get something like this shown below. My thinking is the gage ports were tapped a little to deep and that when you put plugs or gage in you are not getting the proper interference fit with the treads.
Permatex 2 is not gasoline résistance.
They do sell very small tubes of this stuff at home depot and other places

Meh, I just used Teflon tape, had it on for ~4 years now with no runs, drips, or errors

ya i use the yellow "gas" teflon tape or actual thread sealant. I used that aviation form a gasket stuff in my younger days, but it doesnt seem to hold up well to oil.
Permatex 2 is indeed gasoline resistant.

Permatex 2 is resistant, not gas proof. Get some Teflon tape or pipe sealant and you should be good to go.

this a real thread sealant. i use it on everything automotive from head bolts that go into coolant, intake bolts into oil, carb fittings etc
Update:
I used Permatex High performance thread sealant on the plug and Gasoila E-Seal on the adapter fitting. No leaks. We can right this one off in the history book.
