    16147060 transmission "limp mode"

    Just out of curiosity, does this box have a limp home for the transmission. First off, a bit about my setup. I'm running a Megasquirt II as my fuel/timing box, then I'm using this to control my 4L80E. I have tapped the grounds, power, TPS MAP and tach signal in order to get it to shift. I took it out on a quick test drive, and unless I'm nuts I have more than second gear which was sort of what I was expecting.

    Why wouldn't you just use the '7060 to run both the engine and the trans?

    There is supposed to be a limp home, that should work without any PCM connection.

    I have a TPI with 30lb/hr injectors, and am planning to do a pair of Buick GN turbos as well as going to 39s and bigger later down the road.

    I sorta thought that may get asked. :) I think without really delving into the box it would be an interesting venture to get it going. I mean there's Code 59 out there for boosted applications but at the same time it doesn't do any transmission controlling. Perhaps I am going by a set of misconceptions. I was also wondering how the table compared in resolution to a Megasquirt II for fueling. I realize there's a high RPM accel table as well so I'm thinking it wouldn't really be apples to apples either honestly.

    Can't answer limp mode, but the e trans controlling is heavily dependent on VSS in the mask. Didin't see VSS mentioned in your wiring?

    transmission limp mode is the same as if you don't apply any 12V to the transmission circuits.

    with the 4L80, i think it's defaulted to 2nd gear(both shift solenoids off), the pressure control solenoid will be in the maximum line pressure position, no TCC action either, i think.

    Everything going to and from the trans is hooked up, including the VSS and the ISS. The engine's very limited on what's hooked up, just enough inputs to make it work and no other real outputs like emissions. I think I have more than second gear only, it definitely downshifts if I hit it manually. I just am having trouble believing that it doesn't have issues with it.

    That being said, however I wonder how hard it would be to consolidate to this ECU under boost and big injectors. 312lb is a big difference from the 170lb units and I'd need to change the MAP setup entirely. The question of table resolution comes into play as well, but I don't think it would be much if any less than an MS-2.

    depends on how the code is setup. my boost code will eventually be 400-8400 RPM, 20-300kPa.

    400-2000 in 100RPM increments, 2000-8400 in 400 RPM increments.
    20-100kPa in 5kPa increments, 100-300 in 12.5kPa increments.

    So, you're saing you're going to be running a table about 30 wide and 30 tall? I would imagine that's out of the boxes stock resolution. Is this code for an 060 or something else?

    it's on a 16149396, but the code could be ported fairly easily to the 060 if there is even a basic hack available.

    currently, my code is WAY too defined.... 400-2000 in 100 RPM increments and 2000-8400 in 200 RPM increments. it's a handful.

    I would think it would be, the smoothing and interpolation on that would be something else. Perhaps its time to look at model based calibration?

    it's done just as any other table that uses the same 3D lookup subroutine does, just with that kind of resolution, significantly less interpolation is needed.

    Your nAst1 could be used in a 16197427 ECM ? There is a great hack of that ECM.

    It would have been a better choice to start this then the 16147460 because of all the work done with it.

    the entirety of nAst1? no, but sections of it could be injected in place of the stock code, like the VE and main spark lookups, boost stuff, 3 step rev limiter.... just a matter of adapting the code i've already written to a different mask.

    2 questions, is it plausible to run this box without the CALPAK and is the EPROM a standard 2732/64 pinout? Going to homebrew a carrier if this is the case.

    You need the LHM/RFD and Knock Filter side of the MEMCAL. The EPROM is a 28 pin DIP device, IIRC, it's a 27256, or 27C256. Bins for the '7060 are 32Kb in size.
