Question on 16196395 PCM with BHMD Bin

Hi All, new member here. I have a quick question that will probably be easy for someone. I'm new to OBDI tuning and have been trying to figure things out. I was looking through the Bin and definition files which are great.

I have a 1994 C1500 with a 305 and 4L60e my PCM is the 16196395 which from everything I have found here uses a $0E was used in the 5.7 and 7.4L HD trucks with the 4L80E. So, I can't seem to find a xdf file that has information for the 4L60e. I did find my Bin BHMD listed under the 16197427 PCM which I guess uses a $0D. I did find an xdf file here that seems to work at least as far as I can tell.

I don't really know what the difference is between $0E and $0D and right now I'm just poking around in there trying to see what everything is. But question is will using the xdf file from the 16197427 PCM have any negative impacts when I do decide to try and burn a chip? If so does anybody know of a good xdf file I could use that will work with the 16196395 PCM and a 4L60e?

Thanks for any advice you might have.

$0D is for 4L60E, $0E is for 4L80E. there are also some manual bins for $0E. you can run either mask on 7427 or 6395.

you can find the xdf's here: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...ull=1#post2202

I will caution one item on swapping codes in those PCMs. If it is going into a 4L80E transmission application, some PCMs are missing pullup resistors and filtering capacitors IIRC for the input shaft speed sensor on the 4L80E. I know I had two different PCMs that were missing them when I tried to combine OD MAF with a 4L60E using the ISS for the VSS signal to shift the trans after using the normal VSS input pin for the MAF. Small detail but it may cause a future reader frustration when they thow codes for an ISSS and cannot resolve it.

Hi, you could try those attached xdf files.

Editing this post. I must have been doing something wrong when I was trying to save my stock bin off the memcal. For some reason it kept saving it as a 32kb file instead of a 64kb file. After many more tries I finally got it copied properly and running in the truck with the G1 adapter. $0D mask seems to work fine of the working bin.

Thanks Fast, I now recall you talking about this in the MAF $0D thread from many years ago. I have had a few 7427's that came from GM with 4L80E calibrations in them, so have not run into that problem yet. I seem to remember you or dimented24x7 saying the '6395 was the "better" pcm?

Not sure I have ever said the 6395 was better. By large they are the same and $OD and $31 are more refined codes than $E6 or $OE and typically the codes run interchangeably in either PCM minus the 4L80E ISS provision missing in some. I have always seen the circuits in question in a 7427. It was the 6395 that I found missing them and from memory they were both from 93-94 CPI S10 Blazers or Astros.
