TP RT OBDLINK Data Logging

Hi, hopefully one of ya'll can help me. I have an OBDLink LX dongle and can't really afford a physical connection, but I seen how TP RT can log with the OBDLink LX. I just can't figure out how to do it. In Tools>Preference I have the "interface type" as "use plug-in" and "Data Acq. I/O Plug-in Component" as "ELM 327 OBDII Interface Driver Component"... I am not sure what else to do. When I hit the "Acquire Data (Connect/Disconnect) button, it closes the entire app. I'm sure its something normally obvious but I'm lost. thank you for any help.

tunerpro is awful at ELM logging.

have you made an ADX file?

I dont know how to make an ADX file. I was given one that may work. How do I go about making an ADX file?

you can edit your ADX in the acquisition menu. making an adx for that awful elm plugin is really not a good project for a tunerpro beginner.

I can understand that, but I can't afford a different interface. As far as editing an adx goes, I wouldnt have the first idea. I've seen the option in the acquisition menu, but I have no idea what to do in there. Do you know where I can find an adx file for a stock setup? eventually i do plan to do the wideband mod. Maybe i should do that now. i dont know a lot in there area. i've learned to dyno cars and Harleys in school. but this here is a whole new animal.

Actually. What is a good USB setup for OBD2 (P01's and P59's) I should get? I think I may have an idea on being able to afford one.

there are tons of free elm dataloggers although i haven't found a great one yet
maybe try pcmhammer's logging tool

i'm pushing to get TP RT going for the VE fine tuning. It looks so easy. i just have to figure out how to get connected, i guess. Also plan to fine tune a neighbors truck. 01 Silverado with the 411. Even though I was able to advance the ignition timing 2 degrees (slowly, 0.2 Degrees at a time.) watching for evidence of knock since OBDLink doesnt support the Knock PID, Iknow the first step in the tuning process is the VE, So I am pushing to get the VE figured out.

if you're assuming that you need to log and tune in the same program - you're assuming wrong

actually having the log in tunerpro doesn't assist you in tuning in any way. it just happens to be a program that does both

the only feature logging in tunerpro RT will give you is having data tracing (assuming you want to put a bunch of work into linking your XDF and ADX). it is mildly useful for some things, but for ve tuning you will find it totally not useful

any tool that logs to a CSV file would be fine

the thing about VE tables and tuning them is, doing a good job involves using a ton of data and using averaging across tables with hundreds of cells, so that's not something you'd want to do by hand

i wrote a program called trimalyzer (see my signature) that might help with analyzing the logs from whatever program you log with

some people use spreadsheets instead that works too

ok, so i've been playing with it a bit today. I am assuming the Trim Bank A/B and the INT Bank A/B are for STFT and LTFT. Is that right? And which is which? Does it matter?

in GM language INT is short term
you'd be best off looking at the average of the long term trim

How did you set up MegalogviewerHD? I've tried, but I cannot get the tables to be the right size.
