    Introduction

Hi all. I am in the process of putting TPI on a '78 Landcruiser (2F engine) and this site looks to be a goldmine of information. Can't wait to get the project going. If anyone has done a 2F I would appreciate any hints. I found a 1228062 ECM that i'd like to adapt - I know the 1227747 is what most people use but I haven't found one locally yet. I **think** this will work, but I'm open to be told I'm wrong.

    Looking forward to Gearhead.

    Welcome to the forum!!!

My initial thoughts, Idk what a 2F engine is, I know what TPI is, 1228062 and 1227747 are ECMs that commonly used to control TBI. As much as I would love to see someone modify/fashion a long tube runner setup on a 2F engine perhaps a 1227730 or even a 16197427 might be more appropriate to batch fire a LTR setup. Good luck with your project!!!

Thanks for the reply. 2F is a straight 6 4.2L Toyota. Pretty ancient. But more than enough for rock crawling.

I am a noobie for sure. I meant TBI but I typed TPI. Clearly TPI won't work for this engine (at least not without more mods than I am capable of).

One thing (among many) that confuses me is that the 1227747 has parameters for Throttle Follower (I assume this scales the IAC) but the 1228062 does not. Does the 1228062 handle this in some other way?

I may be blowin smoke out of my... Ima thinkin that from the inception of gm diy efi...the '7747 has been hacked to the point every little detail on the PROM has been identified. Other ECMs not so much and you can kinda tell by comparing XDFs from '7747 to others. i.e. '8062, '299, '288 etc. so with that said, the "throttle follower" may exist on these other ECMs but no one has invested the time to identify it.

That makes a lot of sense. I may have to break down and find a '7747.
