New guy with a 6 pack...

Some of you I know on other forums, most probably not. so here is a little intro...

My name is Dave, I run an electronics repair/engineering shop at a fairly large casino in the midwest. I've been building/swapping engines into anything with wheels for over 20 years. About 10 years ago i got bored with carbbed V8's and moved on to the GM '660 platform. At the beginning it was for gas mileage, now it's more about the wild builds.

    I've done a few wild swaps into J-Bodies, my own was a '91 Z24 5 speed with a '04 3500 V6, .549 lift/293 advertised 110 LSA cam, hand built EQ-LT's. OBD1, $A1 mask on a 1227730 with roughly 200 hours of tuning. It put down 275 WHP and ran a 13.07 @ 108 MPH. Highway gas mileage peaked at 35 MPG with about 12-15 city.

My most recent swap is a 3500 V6 into a '89 Camaro. The car had a 2.8 V6 from the factory, then a few random SBC swaps that were sub 300 HP. I found the car after it had been neglected for several years, picked it up for a grand and gave the owner back his 327/TH350 combo.

It now has the 3500 v6 from my old Cavalier bolted to a built 700R4 with a 3500 stall. It's still using a '7730 ECM with $A1 mask although this time I added a one-off set of ITB's to the mix along with better headers, a little more top end porting and other random goodies. I'm expecting high 12's N/A after getting the tune dialed in. So far the logs are showing a decent VE change between the old setup and the new. HP should be closer to 350 @ the crank now but i'll find out for sure after a few hours on the rollers.

Anyways, I've been tuning for a long time so i hope to be able to contribute something to this forum. Here are a couple pics of the current project... It still needs some TLC but at this point it runs and drives.

Welcome, I'm sure you'll like it here, Dave. :D

I need to get my 3500 into my Datsun, I miss working on V6s. :(

Are you ever gonna come to the darkside and find out what positive intake pressure is like?

    Also...

There is one video on youtube from last fall but it's pretty crummy. Once the air box is done i'll take it back out on the street and get a fresh video.

That smilie doesn't apply to this thread, since it has pictures in the first post.

    Smilie use fail.

Re: New guy with a 6 pack...

I still hold the record for the fastest N/A 60v6 powered Jbody, and most N/A WHP. Nobody has come close to my numbers yet...

I put my engine in a Fbody because i knew it would be able to transfer the power to the ground better and there are more aftermarket parts to help with weight reduction and overall performance. I could have kept my Z24 and gotten it into the 12's but i felt it was a losing battle, there was so much flexing off the line and no matter what i did the weight transfer still sucked.

    Lots of pictures here: http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/v6/56 ... -swap.html
