That could be a number of different ecm's. Take it out of the holder and flip over, it should have a casting number between the ribs and hopefully it says e38.

Google that service # and it has 3 connectors so it's not an E38. Probably E67. And that vehicle is not in Tunercat's supported vehicle list. It is in HP Tuners supported vehicle list so there would be no way to save it as a .bin, only as a .hpt file. And I don't believe any of the free programmers do any CAN Bus vehicle ECMs yet. And even if you could get a .bin there would be no way to look at it other than with a hex editor.

Definitely not an e67, probably a p04. Good call on checking the service number, I was being lazy lol

As far as NO WAY to get a bin file, all you gotta do is log the traffic... Not an easy task, as you mentioned.

I have some old versions but v27 seems the oldest. It should be from 2007. That old cards are likely 10mb in size. Not sure why you need these.

If you have old tis2000 disks, the cards can be extracted from database.

thank you for your reply. agreed, v27 is c2007. we have that one but need earlier yrs. '99 - '03. our v27 is on the OEM 32MB card. we do have old tis2000 disks (called TechLine at the time), but did not know tech2 pcmcia card files could be extracted from them (we have v1999 & v2000 CDs). i will (try to) attach CD pictures here for reference. would greatly appreciate if you have any knowledge of how/where to extract the tech2 pcmcia files from the CDs. we do not see any CD method/instructions for that trick, and that would be a great find. thank you again for you kind reply and information. ev1

Can you give some info what is on these disks. Do you have a running program from them.

Usually t2 cards can be extracted from tis2000 but they are split in smaller files. A software download can be performed with a tech2 attached to the pc. It will write the current card from the tis version. I think first versions of tis2000 is around 2001-2002, Not sure when tech2 was launched, and when 32mb cards were introduced.

thanks for your reply. ok, i now see that you are referencing the loading of files to the tech2 pcmcia card via the tis2000 software and laptop interface. i believe that method is only available to download the current tech2 card versions, which we already have. i mistakenly thought you were referencing a direct pcmcia file copy between the early tis2000 CDs and the pcmcia cards to an external read/write linear drive, which could have been a solution for our search if such a download was possible. I do not believe such a download is possible. the only solution to our search is to find an old tech2 pcmcia card from the 1999 to 2003 era, or, someone who has copied those year's card files for downloading onto new cards. thank you. ev1

Not exactly, if you find an older copy of tis2000, around 2001-2005 you will be able to download tech2 software to tech2, and read back the pcmcia card. Each version of tis2000 will have its own latest version of t2 card, so in a 2003 tis2000 version you can`t have t2 card from 2008.

I think the first version of tis2000 is from 2000, Name says it all.

I think it is even possible to upload the software to t2win. I did test that at some point, but you need very fast PC.

Do you mind sharing some of this discs. I am looking for some older sps files. If they have some sps files it will be a great find.

I will post some extracted cards from tis2000, maybe you can figure how they work.

We had one when I left dealer land in ~'97. Although Tech1 kept talking with OBDII, we really only used the Tech2.
