    How to determine which mask?

The ecm is a 1227165 with aftermarket burned chip.....how do you determine which mask to use to read and write the 27SF512 (32B.xdf or 6E.xdf)

    Thanks

my easiest way is to install TunerCats and just try to open bin file, program will tell You which mask is needed and You can switch to TunerPro.

I believe that Bithoist will give you the mask ID. Upload the file and Bithoist will check to see if its stock.

For $OE $OD $E6 etc., the mask ID is in the .bin and can be seen with either XDF, not sure if same for your ECM, but might be worth try.

Thanks Dave...an original AUJM is 16.0 KB, the attached bin is 64.0 KB (labeled wrong?) Not sure which mask to use with that attached bin, $6E, 32 or $32B in the 1227165.

If you look at the BIN in a hex editor, you will see that the first 48 kb are all blank. Only the last 16kb actually have data. This appears to be a BIN that was taken from an aftermarket chip that is larger than the OEM chip, and rather than using BIN stacking (which would repeat the data), they just filled the first 48kb with FF.

After removing the junk data at the head, I loaded the BIN up with the $6E XDF and ran a comparison against the stock AUJM BIN. Here's the results:

your bin is 64k not 16 cause it is stacked due to bigger chip used. factory '165 ECM uses EPROM 27c128 and that gives 16k memory, your one is EEPROM (flash) 27SF512 with total memory of 64k. memory must be writen blank or with some sort of data. most people use bin stacker via unerpro just to stack files with proper data and fill chip memory so that ECM won't start throwing codes and go limp mode.
