I think a 4K VSS is a very poor option because the Speed Pulse Per Rev number will be extremely low. The 8K VSS already has a low Speed Pulse Per Rev number and is likely the lowest cost option too.

The Reluctor / Pickup Coil produce a small AC signal when the distributor shaft is spinning. Perhaps a wobble / harmonic between the Reluctor / Pickup...

It appears to me that the starter solenoid sends a voltage to the computer that the engine is being started cranking.
