I didn't do each gauge, I figured I'd start with something I knew had an output to Win ALDL, like a tach, which didn't work.
OK, I got my bluetooth adapter from RedDevil , it connects fine to my S3.
I get a bunch of X'es across the display and I'm showing "connected " at the top left.
No readout on anything (including...
I don't think you're wasting your time at all. I think when word of this gets round you could actually make some money on this.
Any updates? I am real interested in this project.

I wonder if there is anything I need to do to "open" the communication through the USB port.
Android is Samsung G3. I do see connecting at the top left.
When I hit "connect to ECU" it gives me a list of bluetooth devices.

No message in red and no "connected" at the top.
Ordered the wireless from reddevilriver this morning.
Checked the cable again by running WinALDL, and data is readable.
No luck getting data out yet. Updated the $42 as you suggested and upgraded to the latest ver too.
I am using a proven ALDL to usb (that I can see data on winALDL) to a usb barrel to a micro usb...
