Vortec 350 L31 calibrations for the 1 meg PCM's

I thought I would post this here as there are quite a few PCM tuners here.

So I have been doing some digging through GM part numbers lately and have come up striking gold. I have found some GM parts which allow the mounting of GEN 1E engine into 1/2 ton GMT800 based vehicles.

15113854 $75.95 2001-2010 left-hand bracket mounting (# 9 in the following diagram) 1 required
15113855 $90.82 2011-2010 right hand bracket mounting (#9 in the folowing diagram) 1 required

93802093 $76.64 2003-2007 Mount-engine mount(#8 in the following diagram) 2 required

I cant find info on #1 and #5 which would be complete, the rest are nuts and bolts. The above parts are also called out for GMT 800 3/4 and 1 ton HD GMT 800 trucks to mount the applicable year of Duramax diesel.
The reason that some of these parts are used into MY2010 is because in Mexico GMT800 vehciles were available into 2010.

Here is the official callout L31 - ENGINE,GAS,8 CYL,5.7L,CPI--MEXICO P96(EXPORT). So RPO P96 triggers the Mexico export options.


The Vortec 350 L31 was available in ALL GMT 800 Mexico Export vehicles with 1of 2 available manual transmissions.
RPO TZO TRANSMISSION MAN 5 SPD, TREMEC, 85MM, 3.82 1ST, 0.83 5TH.
RPO M96- TRANSMISSION MAN 5 SPD, TREMEC, 109MM, 5.81 1ST, 0.77 5TH

With this discovery, these GMT 800 vehicles with Vortec 350 implants must have a PCM to power all the fun. This means that there are actual GM calibrations for the 1024kb (1meg) PCM's. Callouts include 2003-12581565, 2006-12602801, 12602802-2004-2007. Another interesting tidbit is that these L31/GMT800 combos run the common 85mm plasric bodies MAF used in the 99-07 trucks-01-04 LS6 Vette's, instead of the GMT 400 trucks/LT!/LS! Camaro/Vette aluminum bodied 75mm MAF.
So there are 1 megabyte PCM calibrations running the 85mm MAF in a GMT 800 vehicles powered by an L31 engine.

I have been looking for a 1meg L31 calibration for several years now. I don't need it---I just want it. I have talked to several Chevy techs that said they can't get that cal for me since it is not a domestic calibration. I hope somebody here can come through. Thanks for posting that Hog.

Been awhile since she has visited.

#8 appears to be a typical LS style engine mount used in trucks. If that is the case then #5 is an aluminum heat shield and typically comes with the mount. #1 looks like an adapter to mate the LS style mount to the Gen 0/1 block much like the adapters they make to mate an old style mount to the LS blocks. Being an ex-GM tech, the only way that I know how to get an export calibration through those channels would be to have a known good VIN from an export vehicle.

I have always known these trucks existed, even tried to help Myk on FSC find the motor mounts for his swap years back. He had a pretty nasty 5.7 under the stock CSFI setup.

Haven't heard back, he has a tuner shop in Sonora Mexico and pops in here once in awhile.

Years ago I joined a mexican tuner forum looking for a file.
Unfortunately nobody could help me,but I think alot was the language barrier.
They were very excited to talk with people from US about cars however.
I would love to cruise down and hangout with them.

I know AZ opened stores in Mexico and Brazil recently,and the computer usually has an option for the Mex engine version.
I'll check tonight and see what happens when I try and order a pcm.
Could it be as simple as buying a PCM from (efihead)parts store,junkyard etc.. in mexico and having it shipped here?
I doubt customs would know what they are looking at,or if they did that it would matter.

There wouldnt be any issues with customs, I have shipped a few PCM's across teh border.

But if you are thinking of nuying a new PCM, it would arrive blank still requiring a flash.

I'm sure there would be some interest in some of those 128 lb/hr Brazilian ethanol TBI injectors as well.

Actually,you can order pcm's flashed or unflashed from Autozone.
Unfortunately,while i'm showing a mexican 1ton with a 5.7 until 2004 in the computer I don't have availability to order a pcm for them.

Oh thats cool. Do you just give them a VIN or something? Thats really cool. I dont even know if yoiu can get a flashed PCM from GM, unless its a PCM from GM Performance Parts.

I'm working on getting a mexican vin number,then i'll call the company number and check if that'll work.

I spent some time searching Mexican classified ads and GM dealer inventory. Couldn't locate the combination of year plus engine plus VIN listed. Still, it's probably worth following that route if nothing else shows up.

I found this on the HP tuners form, in binary format at that, opened right up in my tunercat obd2 no problem.

VIN: 3GBJC34R95M100001 verified on GM TIS, vin pulls up.
