New to the EFI tuning world and need JET DST help

My name is Jerry and i am rebuilding a 1997 Trans am Convertible. I already have 90% interior done and still have a few plastic pieces to go for door panels. New top installed and working. Currently finishing the motor rebuild and have specs in my signature line. I am keeping it as OBD II so i bought JET DST and am looking to make the programming changes myself. However i have never tuned a car with fuel injection and would love all the advice i can get. I am an Electrical Engineer so the idea of software is something i am very comfortable with but navigating these tables and options without damaging it is my main concern. I am not looking for the absolute top tune possible just a nice weekend ride that can hold its own when needed.
