Trying to get started

I have a 1990 corvette with an l98 and auto trans. I have spent the last week trying to make a complete connection to my car. I have the autoprom kit and a G1 adapter. I don't know were to put the datastream def. file and if the inner toggle is set a 10K or open. Please help. I have experience programming my bike, but little experience with a computer. THANKS.
