1990 k5 blazer ?
I'm looking at getting this blazer. Owner says it has vortec engine in it with factory tbi setup. Anybody have info on chip and ECM type? It's like 250 miles one way, so if anyone has a tune they could send me that would be great. I have an auto prom so I can burn chips. Any insight or info would be greatly appreciated.

1990 Blazer should be 1227747 $42 which would need some tuning to run Vortec engine.

Great, thanks for the info Mark.

Hey Mark, I found the thread with all of the bins you have there. I'm not sure which bin I need. Any suggestions on which I should use?
Thanks,
Rick

ASDU for auto and ASDX for manual.

O.k. the guy selling this Blazer says that it's a crate motor. How big of a problem will it be to run vortec heads on a stock .bin?
-
Depends on what motor was in the crate?
They will all run, but none well on stock chip.

Well I'm going to look at it tomorrow and I will see if I can find some info off the engine and heads to be sure of what the heck it is. Any particular's that I should look for other than casting numbers?

Build sheet with cam specs.
Good buying point is it will never run properly, get good milage, put out power or pass emmissions without being tuned which costs about $500... :yikes: as you walk away stop and ask "So what's the lowest you'll take?"
-
That's the line of thinking I was going to take too. lol. I should probably trailer it home, but it's been running this way for 6K miles I guess. Any kind of damage I should be worried about with it running that way?
Thanks again for the help!

Well if the motor in the crate has a big cam it will idle rich so sniff the dipstick for gas, rings washed... and it won't have enough fuel at WOT so it would be lean there, pull some plugs and look for melted tips, bring a magnifying glass and look for specks on plugs, specks are usually melted metal...
If the motor in crate was mild then it'll be fine...

Great! Thanks for the tips Mark. If I end up getting it I'll post up a pic with the info on it.
