I'm going to need more information, .xdf, .adx .bin along with the .xdl.

i have a tbi 350 with vortec heads weiand carb intake manual trans using 16197427 pcm i turned a fuel pressure a little bit i have been using your spreadsheet to tune VE but i am new to tuning obviously whenever i punch the throttle it cuts out
just did im about to go to work ill make another log i appreciate the help
here are data logs from this morning
Does that have a MAT sensor? It's no good, reading -40 and error 23 is set.
Also error 24 and 33. Clear codes, try again.
In log 242013-2.xdl it's no good, the engine was never warmed uip. Always do logs with warmed up engine.
EDIT: none of the logs go over 155 F...
i have a 160 temp thermostat should i get a 180 or 195 and no mat sensor i have the flag set off i dont know why its on ill post more logs tomorrow
Looks a touch rich at the lower RPM's. The excel spread sheet will help correct the rich condition in the low RPM's. To get the best possible data log to tune with, DO NOT include power enrichment, acceleration enrichment, or open loop data in the data log. Drive easy and at steady speeds. It's good to stay one gear lower than normal to get data at higher RPM's. It's very important to gets many counts in each cell. If a cell has less than 20 or so hits, I don't like to use the data from that cell. It helps to interpolate cells with missing data.

how do tell how long its been in a cell? just by watching the blm histograms?
oh that is handy to know ive been keeping it on running average like you explained on how to use the spreadsheet
but he mark was talking about not being up to temp cause of 160* thermostat should swap it out for 180
What came in the motor? Is there any high preformance build here that needs a lower thermastat? If not put stock back in, less work on the chip and it will run better and get better milage.
Code 23 is strange? I didn't think the vehicle came with one, only $0D that has them is CPI V6... and you say it's off in bin? Hmmmm?
EDIT: Your code 23 is checked, uncheck it. Disconnect power to PCM to clear codes and see if others come back.
yeah ill stop by the partshouse in morning and pick a thermostat up i switched from 4288 ecm to the 7427 pcm and started with a cpi 4.3 manual bin
unchecked code 23
I sure hope you meant you started with a 4.3L TBI bin? Even then there's hundreds of adjustmants needed to make it right for 350, async, sync, AE, PE etc... lots of work and even then I just got done reading a dissasembly of a CPI bin and all the diagnostics are differant...
i think it was a cpi bin
i believe ill start fresh with a new bin 4.3 TBI manual bin
what adjustments would i make to run 350
Since GM had $0D 7.4L manual bins superceeded to 7.4L Auto bins, why not? It's what I have been doing with no ill effects, must be in the newer PCM code because it does not work well in old C3 ECMs.
Or you can use the only 5.7L Manual bin file we have? BJYN...
What we need are these 5.7L Manual bins.

BYXT
BYXR
BYXZ
BMYS
BPSA
So there is a 5.7 manual bin?
Easy to make a 5.7 auto bin a 5.7 manual.. I think it's just one flag to uncheck, maybe 2 =). Definitely start with a common 350 bin.
When I started with my vortec motor, I think I was increasing the AE stuff by something like 200%-300% to get it driveable enough to do any useful tuning; 30% is like pissing into the wind (you can back it off later). In a perfect environment you should maybe disable AE to start, but some of us don't have airport runways at the end of our driveway...
Spark and VE are give and take until you get close, but I'll say that I had more trouble with not enough timing than too much, which totally goes against most of the advice you'll dig up. I had intake backfiring from too little advance regardless of fuel mixture.. my vortecs aren't happy if timing drops below 25* except high MAP low rpm. good luck =)
An auto bin wouldn't make it idle high?
Driving without AE sucks! Try to keep foot in one spot to record data, then another spot, then use Excel to filter out any AE frames.
Welcome to the wonderful world of tuning. Seeing how both the old 4.3 and new 5.7 .bin files are both $OD, you can use the compare function to see the differences in fuel and spark tables. I quite often copy / pastes fuel and spark tables from one .bin to next using the compare function.
dave w
I was just thinking about that copying and pasting
I'm still unsure on how to tune spark tables
You can read about it all day but eventually you gotta get your feet wet
The post I did for the timing tables used in a 1998 5.7 Vortec engine (Black Box Computer) Microsoft Excel format. http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Inj...c+timing+table
dave w
So in that post your saying I could plug these tables in with vortec head engine and add and remove timing
i changed out the thermostat to a 195*
i ran the bfmf bin with all the flags on for manual it wouldnt go into closed loop and and map was high thinking maybe cheap map sensor from oreillys still have original gm but i pulled over went back to 4.3 manual bin to make it home
Any updated logs to look at?
dave w
Yeah I'll post them when I get home
BFMF may be a bad start? It's an Export bin, most of them are Open Loop and run no O2 sensors do to leaded gas in other countries. Some I have dealt with could not be changed to Closed Loop. Make sure you can get closed loop before wasting to much time, or find a bertter bin file to start.
ok here they are 262013 25220131 logs are from this morning before i adjusted VE with spreadsheet the 00333 and 2356 are after but i didnt disable accel enrichment
I looked at the 00333.xdl and 2356.xdl. With the two combined the overall average is fair. I looked at the BJYL-$OD-5.7-Auto.bin file and compared it to a 5.7 with Vortec heads I've recently tuned. I think you need to add the values show in the screen shot to the current values in the BJYL-$OD-5.7-Auto.bin, and data log what happens? Use at your own risk!
dave
what about a closed throttle spark table
