G'day from New Zealand
I own a 1988 GMC K1500 with the 350 and 700R4. It's the single cab with short bed and fairly rare down here. I have had it repainted and have a moderate lift to clear the 15x10s with 33 inch tires. I have been slowly replacing the worn suspension and brakes etc and are ready to begin learning how the ECM works as the factory setup has a list of shortcomings.

The Dynamic EFI Flash II System is a good option for replacing the 1988 ECM: https://www.dynamicefi.com/EBL_Flash.php

Hi Dave, thanks for the Dynamic reference. I actually purchased the moates system about a year ago and have only just adapted the new socket into a spare ECM as I don't have a lot of spare time. I have the ALDLdroid Bluetooth unit hardwired into my truck so that I can set and monitor all of the basic settings and being able to watch what's happening in real time has given me a basic understanding of how the different systems work together. My first project for changing the tuning is to get the IAC to drop the idle a lot faster when I lift off the throttle. When I have to do an emergency stop I find the throttle is pushing against the brakes especially when it downshifts just before I have completely stopped it feels like somebody just tail-ended me. Anyway I look forward to the challenge.
