Anything to be worried about, or just buy one and be done with it?
Pretty significant price difference between Delco and some of the aftermarket brands, but I know from Mark and others that certain things (like distributor modules, EGR, etc) if not right/delco, can cause problems. It doesn't appear the knock sensor would fall into that category, but wanted to ask, see if anyone had input on it.
considering what a knock sensor actually is, it's hard to imagine it making a big difference, the ecm does all the actual work decoding it
but it's possible cheapo one could produce a more distorted (or worse, a narrower frequency range) of waveform, and the computer could decode false knock or maybe miss some knock?
personally, considering the small number of failed knock sensors i've seen in my life, i'd take a used one from a wrecker over an aftermarket one, just to ensure it produces a waveform as the mfr. intended.
Anymore it seems the 'yards out here pull all the motors. Very discouraging in regards to engine stuff. Those, radiators, and gas tanks. Normally that means that all the wiring harnesses are ruined as well. :(
I agree, I'd not have a problem running a used one, just have to find a yard that doesn't pull all the motors and has the right one.

well on my own car i would go ahead and run an aftermarket one
if you were so inclined, you generate some knock and make sure you get counts on a log too, especially if you have a distributor and you can just crank your base timing for a sec at idle
Some code won't report and/or react knock at idle. There are sometimes qualifiers before the knock input will be used, one is usually a minimum RPM.
