Like title says. I've heard it said that intake will run too cool causing hard time tuning idle. I can pick up a damn near brand new one for $75 near the house. This will be on a stock bore 454 with flat top pistons, Vortech 100cc heads to give 9.0-1 compression. Lunati 60203 cam and shorty headers. Wanting to build a little torque monster for a 4700 lb. truck. Let me know what ya think.

It will be fine , beings you are in LA (Was just down there this past April) the normal temperatures lend itself better to an isolated plenum intake such as an air gap .
While it is still a dual plane (and not my first choice for a TBI ) it will work fine for you.
Up here in PA , where we are subjected to cooler temps , I have had icing of the throttle blades on a high 40 something degree day with an isolated plenum single plane with a BBC TBI.

Thanks for the feedback. I kind of thought with the temps down here it wouldn't be too much of an issue. Also with the big block generating a little more heat. I thought the dual plane would lend a little better to lower rpms which is what I'm shooting for. With the heads I have this thing will probable be dead at 5500. I'm thinking close to 400 HP which some may say is low for a big block. My friend says a good small block all day long can make that but I want something with a lot of low down grunt and don't what to have to get up in the revs for it to make power.

You will make your 400 hp goal easy , the Vortec heads are a good choice , you won't be dissapointed.
FWIW, I have been pretty quick through a set of heavily ported Vortecs :innocent2:.
