1227730 code 88 ??
I was trying to help a friend out with his tpi car who lives in another state. He just experienced a code DTC - 53 System voltage too high. He replace his alternator and cleared the codes and no while driving for a while he gets a DTC -88 Internal reset of Electronic Control Module (ECM) and the car dies. I have never seen a code 88 on a 1227730 must be in the firmware. I assume the bad alternator voltage spikes killed the ecm? any thoughts on this

just checked my email, he is now getting a code 33 for 90-92 tpi sd map, and code 98 never seen that one before?

no 7730 mask has a code 98 or 88.
definitely sounds like a dead ECM/PROM.
-
just found the listing for 98 - Invalid PCM program, To try to help this kid out I gave him a v6 memcal that I did a cylinder select mod and has to solder in a 27c256 into the memcal. it was working great until he got the code 53.

Odd?
1995 LT1 has a 98 "98 Tach output signal showed incorrect potential voltage at PCM for 26 seconds. "
Here's a good page for codes but still no 98 or 88 for his car?

eaglemark I found that site as well, I know real odd ! I did not know if there were these codes outside the 8d mask and in the firmware. I leaning towards zapped ecm

Is he counting flashes wrong? Or is this off a scan tool?
-
He is doing the blink count. my first thought was a wrong count. got me confused on helping the guy.

Intermittent failures... strange codes..... inconsistent problems... It's a virus!!!! They're everywhere!!!!!! If he doesn't get it cleaned up right away he'll end up replacing everything electrical. Tell him to close any open windows then shut down and restart the car before going any further.
-
maybe he just needs to use windex to do a windows clean and kick the tires with some steel toes boots for a hard reboot

I posted this on tgo in hopes of getting the master of the $8d mask to chime in ( RBOB)
