Hello Dave, I'm looking into converting my manual clutch fan to electric fans controlled by my pcm. I have a 99' chevy 1500 with OS 9373372. I've read it maybe easier to upgrade my pcm to newer OS. Still all new to me, any help would be appreciated. Thanks for asking

Basically the PCM will require a reflash with the auxiliary fan enabled and a wire added to the PCM to control the Fan Relay.

The 1999 Chevy 1500 PCM might not be supported with a definition file (.xdf) needed to enable the auxiliary fan.

Commercial software (expensive) can enable the auxiliary fan without having to upgrade the PCM in the 1999 C1500. Maybe it's expensive to have a local tuner enable the auxiliary fan, but it might be less work?

Maybe post in the OBD2 Tuning section for additional information?
