Hi guys, I'm pretty new to all this . I'm sure it been ask but
What is needed in the ecm to make 4x4 work on a l31 411 swap? It probably as easy as a segment swap, but any help or links to the info will help. Thanks

Are you going to use Coil On Plug ignition on the L31 like the LS engines do?

No, starting bone stock dizzy, spider injectiors, and all. I have another motor with 24x conversation, with a elderblock proflo, with rails and 42 lb injectors.

Some 2002 Express Van used the L31 engine and '0411 PCM.

Gearhead-efi link for stock 2002 L31 .bin files: http://www.gearhead-efi.com/Fuel-Injection/showthread.php?1513-2002-TunerPro-Bin-Files

Thanks, got that part, I have the stock bin file, 411 ecu, punouts and all the stuff needed. Only question I have is the 4x4 stuff in the tune. Express vans did not come 4x4. Looking for anyone that have done the 411 l31 swap on a 4x4 to see what needs to be changed in the tune.

I have not done the swap your asking information for.

I'm thinking 4WD Low is the concern. The transfer case will signal the PCM that 4WD Low is engaged, usually with a switch on the transfer case sending ground to specified pin on the PCM. The thinking I have is 4WD Low shift points for an automatic transmission will need to be compensated for.

Maybe "compare" a 4WD .bin file with the same Operating System (OS) as the L31 .bin file OS. Maybe your using OS 12216125? The link above has '02 Chevy K1500 5.3L OS12216125.bin

That is what I pretty much figured. I think on my pinout there is wires for 4 hi, and 4 low. Just have to see when I get to that point. But thanks. Maybe some that has done this swap will let us know.

Maybe someone will help out, or maybe it needs to be figured out?

Change of plans, my trans went out. So as I am changing that, going to put my 24x/cnp, with the tuned port injection. So I'm looking for a bin for a k2500 suburban, any ls motor/4l80 trans with flex fuel, for a 411 pcm. Or as close as I can get. Thanks

Hi,

Many of the '01 and '02 Express van L31 + 4L80E calibrations appear to be fully compatible with 4X4 vehicles. A number of the van files on gearhead-efi came from cutaway vans in our fleet and are definitely set up to work with a GM 4X4 vehicle. I believe several of the 6.0 + 4L80E calibrations were the same way. Look at the option flags to confirm 4X4 is selected then look at the constants to ensure the transfer case low ratio is correct. If I think of anything else to check I will post it here.

Here's an 0411 with 6.0, 4L80E, 4X4 cal.

Thanks for the file, do you know if that file has the flex fuel options?

I do not know. Do you have tools to open and modify the calibration?

I have pcm hammer, ls Droid, and tunerpro. Just trying to figure out if I need to start with a flex file and swap in a 4l80e. I think the trans swap is more common.

That makes sense. Unfortunately I don't have tuning tools set up on this pc so I am unable to check that file. If you can't see the options using your tuning software maybe you could grab the VIN and use https://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web/ ?

I checked, NOT Flex Fuel.

I'll just start with a 02 Tahoe l59 tune, and do a 4l80 swap.
