I'm wondering if it would be possible to rewire a 96-97 LT1 coil for a 94-95 LT1 engine. I've copied / pasted screen shots from https://chevythunder.com/lt1_electrical_page.htm showing the coil wiring. Looking at he screen shots it's not clear to me how the 96-97 Ignition Coil and 96-97 Ignition Module are wired for ignition On / Start power? Maybe the 96 - 97 coil will work on the 94-95 LT1 by splicing ignition On/Start power to Pin A on the Ignition Module?

Thanks in advance

it used to be a common upgrade as the later coil seems to be a bit more reliable. you just splice the ign power to the coil and ICM (in the 1996+ harness that's just done in the harness already, and in 1994-1995, it's just done at the coil. same result.). the connector is delco PT1795 if you need one.

From what I remember the earlier coils used TBI/TPI wiring and the later are Vortec wiring.

I went the other way back in the day. I had an earlier LT1 Accel ignition setup given to me new in the box. It had an adapter harness to mate to their remote mounted super coil. It had TBI/TPI connections. I installed it on my 5.7 Vortec. I forget exactly what I cut/spliced but the vortec ignition control module triggered the accel box and the accel box fired the coil via multispark capacitive discharge. Idle was alot smoother, throttle response noticeably better and it had more low-midrange torque.

Steveo and Fast355,
Thank you for the lighting fast replies.

I will splice Ignition On / Start IGN power to Pin A on the 96-97 Ignition Coil connector and Pin A on the 96-97 Ignition Module connector.
