I'm trying to figure out some possible reasons a 2010 Carmaro LS3 / 6L80E power train would set error code P0700.

Thanks in advance with any ideas.

Is that in the engine module? Any codes in the transmission module? I actually work in a shop alongside GM truck guys and one is basically a pure transmission tech and he typically runs into torque converter failures on those 6 speeds in the 2500 6.0 trucks but pretty sure it's the same transmission. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a torque converter slip code of some sort in the tcm. If no codes in the tcm and your scanner can read torque converter rpm slip and manually lock up the torque converter I'd be curious what the slip rpm is when cruising on the highway with the torque converter locked up, I've always went by a general rule of thumb of single digits for rpm slip with the converter locked up. Anything that starts to stray outside of that is usually beginning to have issues in pretty much any transmission I've worked with, my personal experience being mostly 4l60e and 722.6 mercedes transmissions. I will ask him if he has ran into anything similar, he use to work on the car side before moving down to our truck shop.
