Hello all,
Customer has 94 350 tbi engine and needs a harness and computer. He also has a '96 4l60e. I have a '93 red/blue and harness. If I remember correctly all I need to do is make sure to start with a '95 bin file as the trans changed in that year. I used the search and it seems like I am correct in my thinking but please let me know if I am wrong. :nono:
The other question is if the '93 harness is still plug and play with the '96 trans or does anything need to be added or moved pin wise?

Thanks for your help.

Both 94 and 95 5.7 4l60e can be found with the lastest BJYL calibration. That says to me there cant be a difference between 94-95 transmisions.

Comparing wiring diagrams between 95 and 96 shows that the 96 was the first year for the PWM TCC solenoid. So the 96 isnt compatible with the 94-95 without internal changes.

Thank you for your reply. The experience I had was a '94 BHMX and I put a '95 BYJA or BJYB (can't remember) in and it set a quad driver code(from memory, this was in '95 lol) so I assumed something was different in the '95 trans. I just looked at the 94 BHMX file and it does not have TCC PWM enabled and the '95 BJYA file does have TCC PWM enabled. Whatever that's worth. :innocent2:

After thinking about this some more here a a few random thoughts.

The 94-95 transmissions are internally the same, 1 TCC solenoid.

96 has 2, TCC on/off and a TCC PWM solenoid.

I suppose the cal between 94-95 could have altered the on/off solenoid to a PWM type simply in the code.

However the 96 trans itsnt going to plug and play with 93-95 wiring or PCM.

Ive had a 94 model, it was off or on, non PWM. dont know which mecal it had though.

I currently have a 95 diesel 4l80e, its off and on, non PWM. OBD2 4l80es got PWM with no change to the TCC solenoid that i'm aware of.

isn't there a transgo change up to convert the PWM 4L60Es to non-PWM?

93-94 are the same, 95 is 1st year pwm lockup, and 96 changed the internal harness and reversed the operation of the 3-2 downshift solenoid. You can install the transgo lockup valve or make the pwm lockup solenoid stay open to make the 96 an on off lockup, change the 3-2 downshift solenoid, harness, and the 96 will work in a 93/94.

Yep, did this for a 96 4l60 with a 93 tbi engine. Trans was a rebuild and already had pwm deleted
