View Full Version : Does this O2 History look normal?

This is a portion of the last .XDL I took (my first real "drive"). I am watching my O2 sensor swing from ~50mv to ~900mv as I drive. I expected to see it more like hovering between 900 and 1000 as it went back and forth over 950'ish (like it did in the first minute or so of this history). I have made VERY little adjusting to my VE tables at this point. The truck runs OK but not "Good". My timing tables are still pretty off, too.

So, does this look like a normal first drive on a stock BIN or does it look like I have a wiring/other problem(s) that I need to correct before I start changing my VE tables more? This is my first time tuning so this is part of my learning curve. feel free to blast me if this is covered somewhere else.

Using 16197427, TunerPro RT, Red Devil River Bluetooth, $OE, AMC 401. I have a 4 wire O2 sensor. BIN is BMHK. Engine has a slight cam, 9.5:1 compression, long tube headers (O2 sensor is in the driver side collector), single 3" exhuast, straight through muffler, no cat.

yeah normal-ish for sure

'runs ok but not good' is transitional fueling (accel, decel, power enrichment, idle fueling) rather than cruising fuel, am i right?

where it's switching (high, low, high, low...) that's where your fueling is close to good (whether that's because the ECM corrected heavily or not, you can tell by checking your trims in that area)

where it's gone high and flattened out, thats' bit rich, so look at your other parameters.

if your tps is dropping a lot, you're in decel, so no big deal. if it's climbing a lot, you're in accel, so also no big deal

but until you do a bit more tuning those areas are an unknown amount of rich

once you've tuned your fueling tables to get your trims closer i think you'll see all of that tighten up a bit just with the stock accel/decel/idle parameters then you can tune from there.

so how are your fuel trims looking?

That is fantastic news! (normal'ish) Whew.

It idles nicely (cold or hot). It seems to have alot more torque when cool. Still sputters under heavy throttle. My timing table was taking my total timing into the low 40's so I chopped it down to 36 degrees knowing that I will need to fix that (I assume this is where my warm torque went). I also do not have my knock sensor in the block yet, (it's mounted to a grounded bracket behind my dash).

I have, literally, one .xdl where everything seems to be working correctly and this was my last check before really getting into it. Here are my open throttle BLMs from that run. I have used the excel spreadsheet to correct my VE tables (both open throttle and idle) to burn my next BIN but am out of town for 3 weeks so I can't log again.
