Hi all,

I've noticed that all my local gas is E10. Is there anything I need to do to tune the truck for that grade?

generally, no, since the O2 sensor will account for the discrepency pretty quickly, but if it's anything like the crap we have around here, you'll probably notice an increase in knock.

since ethanol is added to the gasoline, they start with a lower octane blend gasoline and basically use the alcohol to boost the octane to 87.

works well in theory, but as many have found out, not so well in actual application.

Any solution to this? move to 89 octane? is it worth the cost?

Yeah, not a fan of E. Increases our driving and food costs and you get both horns when you drive to the market... ;D

a lot of the 89 octane stuff has ethanol mixed in as well. you would really need to sample it to be certain. and even then, it could be seasonal.

or you could be like how my local citgo station worked for years: difference between 87 and 89 was always 2 cents per gallon. i get the feeling that the 89 was 87 with more ethanol added.
