Hello All.

My 87 Vette has a failed Memcal... So I have decided to create my own for $100 rather than pay someone $200 for a 'costom' chip. I belive I have found some OE bins for the car on this site, so hopefuly that works.

Best,
-N.Tanzi

:welcome2:

Glad we had a bin for you! When you get er done start a thread and let us know how you recreated the Memcal for the V8, it seems to be a hot issue.

I am going to unsolder the OE chip from the Memcal then use the C2 SST 27SF512 chip to replace it. Hopefully my solder skills are not too rust and I do not destroy the Memcal. I have not extensively searched this on this forum so I am not sure if it exists but I could take photos and make a step by step when I do it.

yeah, decent tutorial, i tend not to use sockets either, have yet to kill a PROM that way and i do it with a 45 watt iron.
