Was looking for ways to make some changes to the 16263494 ecm for 2001 s10 blazer. Is there a way to remove a chip and socket or is something like roadrunner required? I really only need to change a thing or 2 so i dont need to datalog or anything

If I recall correctly that's the 2.2L 4-cylinder PCM? If so, I do not know of any "free" tool to make the changes with-you'll need an OBDII tuning suite like HPtuners or EFI Live.

If it's the V6 4.3L, then it should be an 0411 PCM, and you *could* use 24x7's flash tool, and Tunerpro to make your adjustments. It's dangerous, as there are zero safety protocols in effect, and if you click something wrong it will brick your PCM, but it's out there. Soon there will be a better option, but for now there is nothing else outside of HPtuners/EFI Live that is currently available for purchase.

Your best bet is to send the PCM out to someone who can flash it, and tell them what you need changed, if you only need one or two things changed. (unless it's fueling, which is going to need datalogging, or timing...or warmup/startup, etc)

Ahh! then i dont know if HPtuner will do those pcm's, Tunercats obd2 will but not for sale anymore, maybe efilive or jet dst.

Its a 4.3 v6.

I have TunerCats OBD2, I'll need to check to be sure I could reprogram the 16263494. Likely I'll need to make a bench flash connector if the 16263494 is supported by TunerCats OBD2.

TunerCats OBD2 is still available, but requires the purchase of a Road Runner PCM.

The 16263494 PCM is supported by TunerCats OBD2. Send me a Private Message if you would like details about updating the flash in your 2001 S10.

One of the mods i wanted to do was pcm controlled electric fans but i heard this pcm would not do it and there was another pcm that would do it but dont know what it would be.

PCM # 12200411 is capable of fan control, when flashed with fan code. Most 2001 / 2002 4.3 liter S-10 Pickups have the 12200411 PCM, which needs fan code update to run fans.

Thats the biggest mod i want to do. Will the 12200411 ecm plug right in or do i have to repin or reprogram? Is the 12200411 better than the 16263494 ecm?

The 12200411 conversion requires both RE-PINNING and RE-PROGRAMMING.

The 12200411would likely be better than the 16263494 for a couple reasons; it's a very common PCM and has OUTSTANDING aftermarket support for Flashing and Tuning. I've literally worked with hundreds of 12200411 PCM, I have not worked with a 16263494.

Some of the older "Black Box" PCM's are wired with the ABS system. I wonder if the 16263494 is wired with the ABS controls?

The 16263494 ecm has a separate abs control box off to the side.
