Have an handfull of oddball problems on a 94 k2500 Suburban and Id like to snag a PCM or 2 from the scrap yard for testing purposes.
The current PCM in the truck has no serial/part numbers aside form a crusty sticker that I can make out EM7427.
What all other PCMs could I use in this truck? I know I need to change the chip (PROM?) out.
Is there a way to validate the chip in the PCM now is for that vehicle? I wouldnt put it past some fella before me to install the wrong components the way the truck acts.

Thanks in advance!

What color are the connectors? That will help narrow it down. Also, what is the broadcast code on the eeprom or memcal itself?

That should have the red/blue connectors and the OEM # should be 16197427. The # on it is a remanufactures # Probably an A-1 Cardone Brand or standard ignition part reman.
as the A-1 would be 77-7427

They are red and blue.
I had to lookup what a broadcast code is, and upon removing the blue cover from my PCMs "chip" I found there are no letters in my code, only numbers. the full code is:
4061
1618
8020

The blue cover has "DELCO 7396 BJDR" marked on it. Definetly think this is a reman unit now.

The 7396 BJDR is what you need to identify the prom and calibration. the prom "chip" is a GM OEM part.

16197427 PCM was used in 1994 - 1995 C/K Truck, Van, S-10, 4.3L, 5.7L & 7.4L
Search your junk yard or ebay for that PCM, you'll be good. From the factory they have a label on them, if they are OEM.
The BJDR memcal is for 94 Chevy 5.7 Auto.
This page has info on that PCM, has a list of Malfunction Error Codes, if it's showing a check engine light.
